Old age

I was just looking for my glasses, but I was wearing them.

Have you exerienced weird events that suggest that you're getting old?

I sometimes go to the supermarket to buy a certain thing and end up buying other things, except for the item I went there for.

  • I have less energy to do things. Oh, and ailments that accumulate and interact. It's very boring - I end up having to spend more time attending to my body as things take longer to heal. It's especially irritating at the moment as I need to clear a load of rubbish in the garden and the garage and it takes so damned long to do! Grrr.

So true! And the junk mail I get now is about incontinence pants, burial plans & free Wills - no sexy underwear, Club 18 - 30 holidays, cosmetic offers or dating agencies. How do they know??

  • We get very little junk mail, some stuff comes through the door like a local restaurant or takeaway doing special offers and begging letters and a catalogue or two fall out of Mums papers.

I suspect it's data mining, Marianne, anything you sign up for online or shops you use, they will make your data available to other companies, especially if its in thier group of companies, it's one reason I don't allow cookies when I go to a web site.

Although I still wonder about the air fryers and romantic fiction I get told are things I might want and I ask 'in what universe?'

  • I didn't mind when I had a log burner - it was useful free fuel. Same with political pamphlets. When I lived in Buckingham, it was a rental with a large open staircase and lots of draughts. Someone pushed through a whole stack of political pamphlets - I think it was the Lib Dems. I voted for them that year, as I managed to fill all the cracks with their pamphlets, scrunched up, and some under the rugs to keep out rising cold.
