Teenager starting college - aggression at home

Hi my teenager has just started a college course after leaving school in the summer.  whilst she seems to be coping with the course itself whilst she is there she is displaying some particular aggressive and angry behaviour at home for me as her mum, her dad and her younger sibling.   We are all finding her behaviour difficult to cope with.  Does anyone have any advice?? do you think this is just reaction to the change? as well as starting a new college she is coping with travelling on a bus 10 miles to and from college independently.

  • Yes, it is not uncommon for AS individuals to bring their stress home for release in a safe enviroment. Work is needed to identify the specific stressors involved but bus travel is a very strong candidate...many of us find busses extreemly difficult...I either walk or taxi. If college attendance can be made less stressful, then home behaviour is likely to normalise.

For clarification; normalise=more normal for her, not NT
