Emotional eollercoasters and eupd overlap

My therapist says that a big aspect of autism is emotional turmoil and mood stuff, and that my seeing myself as having eupd would be wrong and that there could be overlap but my intense emotions andPrayften feeling empty and hopeless are best seen as aspects of autism, especially as the nhs isnt great at eupd care, any thoughts anyone Pray

  • Hello there Zsuzsu.  I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with your mood and emotions, but it is good that you are already seeing a therapist about it.

It is true that being autistic can affect your mental health quite drastically in some cases.

You may like to have a look at the mental health section of our website which has useful links to information and advice about a range of mental health issues: https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/mental-health

If you feel that you might need some support with your mental health, you can find advice and information on how to go about seeking help, including links to other resources and details of helplines and listening support services, here: Seeking help

It may be worth approaching your GP as well to discuss how you are feeling.

I am wishing you all the very best.  Know that you're not alone in feeling down, and that our online community is always here for you.
