Watching the Detectives

Who are your favourite TV and literary detectives, hard and soft boiled?

Mine are Miss Marple, the Joan Hickson ones for TV, definately soft boiled and Catherine Cawood, from Happy Valley, for hard boiled.

Marcus Didious Falco, from the books by Lindsey Davis for soft boiled literary and DCl Jack Logan, for hard boiled, there are some of the most autistic coppers I've ever read, they're brilliant.

I'd also have to add Inspector Gamache, by Louise Penny for being so generally wonderful.

Children
  • They don't make them like that anymore. I find I've gone off American crime fiction, I find theres al ot of product placement even in books, which I really don't relate to unless its a part of the story, like someones antique cartier diamonds being knicked or something. And I find them to special effects heavy and they all seem to have to have a resident nerd or two, who are computer genius's etc.

Remember Cagney and Lacy, Roy? I used to love them.
