I've been getting a lot of calls recently,  all different numbers that I don't recognise. 

I categorise them into three groups.

  1. It's a missed call that stops before I get a chance to answer.
  2. I answer and they hang up immediately. 
  3. I answer and a voice tells me to add this number to whatsapp.  And they hang up.

Can someone explain to me the purpose of these calls.

  • I had a series of calls with different numbers identical a few weeks ago. Sometimes I think they are automated, ringing lots of numbers at the same time and cut off if someone else answers. 

    If they want you to add a number to WhatsApp, I think they are definitely wanting to trick you and might then send you a link to click on.
