What’s everyone’s favourite genre of music?

Generally like rocky, metal bands, but equally can enjoy emotive instrumental pieces. Evanescence is a favorite band of mine and I went to my first ever concert to see them last weekend at the 02- was a lot of sensory input but I managed and really enjoyed it.  

Must have words, anything else does not make sense.

Anything that shows that the artiste knows what they are doing. Love things where musicians swap over between different combos like jazz and folk.  So, many genres - 

Pop - Queen and Mika and and and quite a lot of things my youngest played to me that I cannot remember, like that Mormon band from Utah (not the Osmonds, much more recent.)

Jazz - anything on the Radio2 Jamie Cullam show probably.  And George Melly.  Dates me, I am afraid.

Folk - Scottish / Irish / Political / Northumberland / Lady Maisery.  And, being Liverpudlian, The Spinners in days gone by.

Classical - Benjamin Britten and Arvo Part (Estonian).  Early Music. Choral Ensembles like The Sixteen, Tenebrae

And I am now stopping myself from listing absolutely everything I like.....  church organ.....etc etc 

I'm in Scotland. It's almost required. <grin>

This is true I mean pop punk and emo criss over a lot and you have sub genres so ch as post hardcore and mid West emo

But even pop music yes it's it's own genre but it can also mean what's ever is popular in the charts which may involve non pop

I'm not very good at music genres - they confuse me. There seems to be a lot of cross over and side genres.

I think I mainly like some kind of rock genre. Nothing heavy. Greenday, Avril Lavigne, Red Hot Chilli Peppers kind of stuff has always been my favourite.

I also like bands like Train - not sure what genre they are.

I don't like pop pop but I do like singers like Lewis Capaldi.

I love an acoustic guitar. So a good singer playing to an acoustic guitar I tend to like.

I really like pop, pop punk, emo third wave ska and my all time favorite is the pop girlies liek Taylor Swift and Katy Perry 

Wow, someone else who's heard of the Peat Bog Fairies!

Folk, especially Scandi (such as Hedningarna and Garmarna) but also the Peat Bog Fairies.

Rock and some pop.

Celtic, both trad and modern

Some female singers, especially Joni Mitchell and Judi Collins

Reggae, but also people like Florence and the Machine, I just love her voice.

Some folk music, like Capercaillie, The Peat Bog Fairies.

Some classical, such as Carl Orf, medieval choral music.

But I can also do the Sex Pistols, Bowi, Elton John Kate Bush and Pink Floyd

Post-rock (e.g. GY!BE) and Classical (Schubert, Bach, Chopin, Vivaldi, Erik Satie which isn't classical possibly, and also others).

Also ambient like Brian Eno.
