Shift in musical taste and tolerance post-diagnosis?

I've been wondering if anyone else has experienced a drastic shift in musical taste around or after their diagnosis.

In the past, I listened to fairly accessible music, some mainstream artists, some alternative, rock, jazz, and a bit of classical. At that time, electronic and experimental music felt far too difficult and overwhelming to sustain.

However, over the last two years, my listening has moved entirely in that direction. At the same time, I now find that most of the music that previously felt soothing has become somehow irritating, heavy, and rather hard to listen to. Has anyone else experienced a similar reversal in what they can tolerate or find restful?

  • I'm not sur elf Mabie it's unmasking but now I tend to listen more to what. Is known as the pop girlies. I.e Taylor Swift Sabrina carpenter and Katy Perry were as previously I almost only. List new to rock n roll emo and pop punk as well as some EDM. And scouse house

I still listen to those but much prefer pop most of th time even revisting some bands I always felt I shouldn't listen to ad they're "kids bands" Like sclub 7 and sclub jrsCry

  • Thanks for sharing this. Dropping that worry over what we're supposed to listen to and just enjoying what actually feels good rather than trying to fit an expected identity makes a lot of sense.
