Hate and unconstitutional thinking taking over

I know, nobody wants to talk about politics and that‘s not what I‘m here to do. 
There was a pretty defining vote in one of the Bundesländer of Germany and the results are… Well, today I am ashamed to be German.

I do not get why people vote for a party that is officially deemed "right-wing extremist“ and wants to destroy the pillars of democracy for personal profits and ideologies. 
Sorry to dampen the mood, but as someone that needs the world to stay open minded, I worry. I cried this morning and I fear for the future. My sense of justice screams for me to get away while I am to start my six years of university soon. The future seems to be a Germany where I do not want to live and right now I honestly do not know what to do.

How do you deal with the world getting more hateful and narrow-minded? What helps you to see things in perspective (preferably a perspective that doesn‘t make me weep)?

    Face covering is face covering. Sadly, in this time of history there cannot be a law that applies to some and not others, particularly on spurious 'religious grounds'. The same goes for carrying weapons. If Sikhs want to wear a kirpan, then it must be made of material that can do no harm. In 21st century society, law has to come before religious practice, just as human rights took over from the oppressive reigns of ancient kings. Religions and faith systems have to adapt, particularly  cult-like ones where women particularly are oppressed, their opinions discounted. This is something that, for example, the Taliban do not accept in their own lands, where medieval practices are forced on people - this is not true faith but religious 'practice' manipulated to oppress a minority.
