I found this really interesting youtube channel about deconstructing and analysing the various art styles and eras of cartoons, documenting about how some so called "throwbacks" aren't as authentic as they think they are, how things used to look vs how they look now etc.
As an autistic and an artist myself who mostly draws in an art style that could be considered retro, I find this EXTREMELY fascinating!

I find his thoughts about Bendy and The Ink Machine particularly interesting. It's supposed to be about a 1930s style cartoon, and yet the art style doesn't actually evoke the style trends of the era very well. The lack of noses, the cal-arts smile etc. are more 2010s than 1930s for E.G., and having angels and devils in a publicly available cartoon in the 1930s would NOT have flown back then at all!
