  • The horrific attack of 9/11 did help to stop the “Troubles” in Ireland, it was the first time the USA had witnessed terrorism of that scale on its home soil.

Money raised through NORAID dried up almost immediately, the fundraiser events stopped, people stopped putting a dollar in the collection tin, where fighting in their homeland of Ireland ( the cause) had been romanticised as freedom fighting, the attack of 9/11 brought home the ugliness of terrorism.

The Good Friday Agreement was only the start of the peace process, the 9/11 attacks changed public opinion and cut the funding off to the IRA. This is only my opinion.
The attacks of 9/11 were terrible,  lasting peace in Ireland was one positive  thing to come out of all.
