Calls for chess to be made into a sport

Theres an article about it on BBC Wales News.

From what I can see they want it turned into a sport because of the money it could attract and some top sports people play it. 

It's recognised by some Olympics committess in other countries but not in the UK

How do you feel about it, should it be a game or a sport?

Not being someone who understands competition, dosen't like sport and dosen't play games, I'm bemused, what the difference between a sport and a game?

  • The Ancient Olympics were based on male physical strength. Obviously the Modern Olympics is much more inclusive, sports now include table tennis and shooting, this is the wording from team GB. Shooting is a sport that demands exceptional skill, concentration and a strong mental approach. I would argue that Chess has a similar requirement. 
    Many other board games rely on the throw of a dice, that makes them a game of chance, Chess does not fall into that category.
