Ways to improve the Steel Wool era of FNAF games

If you're a fan of Five Nights At Freddy's, then like me, you probably feel like the current era of games don't hit the same way the older games do. Now, they aren't bad games, per say, in fact, I really enjoyed Security Breach and Secret of the Mimic, but they don't have the same intrigue or scare factor as the Scott Games era titles. Now, I believe there's a couple things the newer games can do to make them feel closer to the older games.

1. Bigger focus on recurring characters. The Steel Wool games often focus on throwaway characters such as Tape Girl, Gregory, Cassy and Arnold. While Secret of the Mimic actually had a lot of lore about Edwin Murrey and his wife Fiona, none of the other aformentioned characters are explored outside of their initial appearance (aside from Gregory, who also appears in a couple of books, but even then, we still don't get much more info about him). Meanwhile, the Scott Games era titles focus on a consistent group of recurring characters such as Henry Emily, William Afton and Michael Afton. Their stories are explored fully throughout the titles and they all get satisfying arcs and conclusions.

2. Ghosts are scarier than AI! The haunted animatronics of the Scott Games era games are way scarier than whatever The Mimic does in the Steel Wool era games. A killer AI? The only thing going on with that is just "kill all humans" and there's no real mystery or depth behind that. But robots possessed by ghosts and driven to kill? There's ALL SORTS of things that can be read behind the scenes of that! Rage, hostility, fear, lust for revenge, unfinished business or even just pure confusion, etc.! Heck, in the first game, the fact we barely knew anything about the animatronics and assumed they were just killer AIs made the slow burn reveal that they were actually haunted WAY SCARIER!

3. Introduce a hybrid system! By that, I mean take the main gameplay of Steel Wool FNAF, and add in Scott Games era FNAF segments! I know Security Breach tried this a couple of times, but you could still move around pretty freely in those security offices! What I mean is, you could have free roaming segments to get from A to B, then Security Office segments where you're unable to move and have to do classic sit and survive FNAF gameplay!

So, what do you think? How would you improve modern FNAF?
