Retro foods

I think this might have been covered before, but .. I found some recipes for toast toppers, which are sadly no longer on sale. The nearest dish is Welsh rarebit but toast toppers have a nice spicy kick.

Have you any favourite retro dish - either stuff you can buy or ones that no longer exist? Does anyone remember Sainsbury's breakfast slices which were a long oblong tasting of bacon?

  • I loved Birds Eye Crispy Pancakes, my childhood food was dictated by whether food would fit in a frying or chip pan. My late father even deep fried pork pies, I also love Angel delight. Vesta dried food was an innovation. I nearly forgot the sponge puddings in a tin, they seemed to boil forever. My favourite has to be a sausage plat, unfortunately the supermarket doesn’t do a frozen one anymore.
