Do you lose things, even if your home is very small?

Driving home from the supermarket [such an exciting life I lead!] I detected a whiff from my feet. Never mind, I thought, I've got a jar of Epsom salts I stashed away last year. I can enjoy a good foot-soak when I get home.  Now, my rented bungalow has 1 bedroom, 1 kitchen, 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom & 1 ex-coal-shed office. Search though I might, could I find the wretched stuff? I distinctly remember putting them in a clip top jar. They must be somewhere. Or did I give them to a charity shop [as you do, in an over-enthusiastic clear-out] - things that next day you realize you 'need,' then spend hours agonizing whether it is ethical to ask for them back, or if it's worth 'buying back.' Of course, if you decide to 'buy back,' inevitably someone has bought it Tired face.

Have you lost something you were sure you, 'put away safely'? Ever found things months or years later, just when you realize you no longer need them? Are there gremlins lurking in every home, creatures whose best fun is hiding your favourite things, sometimes 'losing' them for ever?

Parents
  • yes  - but I don't ascribe this to gremlins.  Personally I am somewhat convinced that I play games with myself and also do so to regulate my behaviour - e.g don't want to go out - lose my keys, don't want to spend money - lose my wallet., want to drive myself crazy - do something crazy...

Do you want suggestions for where you stashed the salts?

  • As long as they're not rude suggestions!

That's an interesting theory. So what is behind my losing Epsom saltes? Perhaps I want my feet as they are, to keep people away.

  • Ah yes  you get it :-) that's a possibility - or at least away from your feet! I should say that I empathise with the issue, showering in the morning then spending all day in sandals because of the heat recently has given me a similar experience... with all that air about how come sandals make my feet smelly! and showering last thing before going to bed when all I want to do is go to sleep... and what about the water saving measures!

But putting that to one side, as far as the epsom salts location goes - my first thought for my bathroom was stashing it in the cupboard where the hot water tank is - and maybe inadvertently putting towels or something in front of it.  Or maybe it got shifted out of the bathroom for another use - like the kitchen cupboard because it got used for cleaning pots and pans or even the garden cupboard because it was used for boosting the tomato harvest. Maybe in a place where you put stuff because there's not enough space to put it where it is best - or the one used because one can't be bothered for now to put it where it should be?

Perhaps the solution is to buy some more and put it where you will remember it this time - from personal experience this will significantly increase the likelihood of your finding the lost one,,,

    Best wishes
