Anyone else getting bitten by insects?

It's unusual for me to get insect bites in UK, I only used to get them when I went abroad on holiday. It's probably due to such a long hot dry spell. It feels like I'm living in Spain or the Canary islands, rather than the south of England!

I've had to buy bite cream and I've ordered a plug in mosquito killer - hope it works!

  • Normally I get bitten a few times. But it is so dry there are no pools of water in the gutters, nothing in the plant pot drip trays, the water butt has been dry for almost 2 months, so no mosquitos. So I can have the windows open.

No hunting for mosquitos with my fly swatter before I go to sleep.

I also have a selection of spiders by the back door which are helping.

I only got bitten by one thing last week. I had a red, hot area 2 inches (5cm) in diameter for 4 days, that hurts. Then it takes a week or two to go. I get one of those a year. It is not a mosquito bite. I never see what does it, but it obviously causes a pretty good allergic reaction.
