A press release from channel 4, there seems to be very differing views by the medical profession. I have a son with ADHD, he doesn’t have this because schools cancelled corporal punishment or exposure to phones, he was different before school age and has an autistic parent.

  • Sorry I didn’t explain properly, this is part of the article.

“It is certainly not a medical condition as far as I’m concerned” – Dr Iona Heath, Former President of the Royal College of General Practitioners

“We’ve replaced corporal punishment with giving [children] a pill” – Dr Sami Timimi, consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and psychotherapist

  • I've had doctors as friends and family, and they're no different from the general population in terms of their own fears and prejudices. My ex-sister-in-law was a GP who couldn't cope at all with mental health problems/neurodiversity. Many find it simpler to find reasons to deny the problem exists as then, it's not down to them to deal with it.
