Good TV programmes to relax with

  1. Having thought I had watched all the comedy, mainly old stuff on I Player I found the second series of Austin which I am halfway through. Watching 'comfy' comedy or a good film that is not fast paced drama/action with a good ending is one of the few ways I find I can relax and chill out. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am thinking either on I player or TV.

  • I was considering putting up a discussion post about "Ann Droid" (the BBC TV series) earlier today and my search on the site has suggested your thread as  I agree Austin is great, The Detectorists, Ludwig and Small Prophets - likely stuff you've already been thro' but I thought that I'd mention them.

    Happy viewing!

  • Thank you. I have yet to explore the detectorists, but I am quite traditional and after seeing the trailers for AnnDroid I couldn't watch something with a robot.

  • jolly good  - hope you enjoy the detectorists - gentle, well observed comedy and having been to Sutton Hoo last year and enjoying a theme of "treasure hunting" it went well with me.  As regards the robot aspects of Ann Droid I found it a bit tricky myself too but "got thro' it as light comedy with (as is often the case) a deeper commentary in it.  I am sorry, I should have mentioned it and will bear that in mind if I do post a thread up about it.
