Android: Moving the text cursor when typing

In case anyone isn't aware as many are often surprised by it, if you make a mistake when typing something on Android and/or want to move back rather than delete, hold the space bar and then move your thumb/finger left or right. The text cursor will (usually) move allowing you to edit previous text.

It is part of the keyboard so if you have changed keyboard it may not work, but I think it is a fairly standard feature now. It may even work on iOS but don't have a device to check.

I work in tech and had no idea it existed until I saw it in a youtube short years ago Joy

  • It's does work on iPads too, I don't have one but my son first showed me on his school one.

In his assessment last year, I mentioned it as something he'd taught me from his tech obsession, and his assessor was amazed! In his follow-up she said she used it all the time after that!

    It's pretty handy!
