Special interests you didn’t realise you had

Hi all,

Just a random thought but i realised today i have a special interest in rain and thunderstorms. I constantly listen to it before bed, and for years have watched any video I can on rain. Whether its on how it comes be to, places that rain the most, or videos of walking in the rain.

i love watching rain walk videos on YouTube specifically in countries ive travelled to (japan, korea, thailand) and seeing everyone walking out and about in it. It dawned on me today ive been doing this for years. Even as a child whenever it rained I would sit by my window, or at my patio doors and watch it fall.

i was wondering if anyone else has noticed they have interests that they didnt realise they always went to?

just a ramble but would love to hear other peoples interests white heart

  • For me I think I have this with UX design in computer software. I'm always really interested in experimental/unusual ways of making a computer interface aside from the standard digital buttons or command line inputs. Recently I switched to using Linux on my computer rather than Windows for the most part and there are so many interesting softwares that use unusual design paradigms, for instance the music player I use (Tauon) has both the usual selection of albums or genres with a column interface but you can also simply type (without clicking on anything) any artist name, genre etc and hit enter and it will pull everything with that 'tag' into a list. Or if you look at the educational software Sugar on a Stick or the GNOME desktop environment, they're very interesting ways of doing things. I really love design in general especially commercial design for products/advertising etc but I feel like computers have gotten really stagnant/entrenched which is a shame because there are so many theoretical possibilities !!
