Bees having feelings

I saw this report and it makes me think of two things.

  • One is cool that scientists can identify different facial expressions on bees!
  • Two that it's sad that it takes science this long to see what people notice in everyday life!

So many people deny that animals have feelings (pet owners will know their companions feelings intimatly), and can't imagine other life forms like insects expressing preferences and reacting to liking/not liking things. 

How will we be able to communicate with alien life if we keep assuming humans are the only ones that can do/feel things that we don't understand life even on our own planet?

But I love the idea of a bee licking it's lips when it has something tasty!

    I was lucky enough to be part of a project for autistic women where we were able to learn about bees and what plants they like and then plant out an area in Hillsborough Park Sheffield. I have since planted my own pots this year with bee loving plants. It’s lovely to see the bees on the plants ….it just feeds the soul somehow.Bee

    I am not surprised at all to learn that bees have feelings, I believe lots of animals do. I have recently started to learn more about Animism which I’m finding fascinating and heartening. Maybe if humans had more of a understanding of this world they would be kinder to animals Purple heart
