Bees having feelings

I saw this report and it makes me think of two things.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cpq309jrve4o

  • One is cool that scientists can identify different facial expressions on bees!
  • Two that it's sad that it takes science this long to see what people notice in everyday life!

So many people deny that animals have feelings (pet owners will know their companions feelings intimatly), and can't imagine other life forms like insects expressing preferences and reacting to liking/not liking things.

How will we be able to communicate with alien life if we keep assuming humans are the only ones that can do/feel things that we don't understand life even on our own planet?

But I love the idea of a bee licking it's lips when it has something tasty!

  • I suspect this attitude may originate in the christian insistence that animals do not have souls and that we will not be with them in heaven. I saw too many people deeply saddened by this before I escaped.

Ive a fab birthday card ready to give someone which says: “I don’t want to go to heaven, none of my friends will be there”. And I include my cats, past, present and future.
