Worms in meat (NSFW)

I've become aware about worm parasites in meat.

All animals have them. Fish for sushi needs to be frozen for a certain time to kill the worms and their eggs.

Yesterday, I fried basa fillets from Sainsbury's. As I was eating, I saw one and pulled it out. It was only half as I had eaten the other part. Very gross!

You've probably seen the YouTube videos of bears walking around with tape worms hanging out of their bums 0_o.

They eat the salmon in the river and that's how they get contaminated. The worms enter the brains of bears and deers. It makes them delirious. You have to cook the meat at 165F to kill them.

When I was little, my mother bought me fish and chips. I remember pulling out what I thought was veins and eating them! The cod worms are Anisakis simplex and Pseudoterranova decipiens.

It's nothing to worry about as they are dead, but you have eaten them everytime you have bought fish and chips.

There is a legal amount of worms that can be in fish.

Pork is dangerous as well if it hasn't been frozen first.

25% to 30% of the human population is infected without symptoms.

I saw a Jolly YouTube video recently. You know the two British guys that travel the world eating food?. They were in America eating fried basa and a long worm was hanging out of this mouth.

I'll try and find the video if you want to see it.

Please delete the thread if it is inappropriate. I think it's good to spread awareness, as you might be feeling ill long term without explaination. Worm parasites could be the culprit. Your GP would have no idea.
