Why... why did Disney remake Moanna in live action?

I'm genuinely confused about this after seeing the adverts/trailers. Aside from the actors being live action, everything else practically looks the same as the animated version. The fact the animated version was already pushing for a realistic look makes this version seem kinda redundant and pointless...

Parents
  • DISNEY SHOULD BE BANNED FOR CRIMES AGAINST WINNIE THE POO

  • Oh good, many people start screaming and crying when I say that, especially when they find out I really mean it too. I'd even go without Capt Jack Sparrow if it meant no more Disney.

  • There's also the issue that Snow White is literally 14, something that's often overlooked.

But, hey, it's history. Messy stuff happens in the past and we can't do anything about it. It's what we do in the present that counts, and unfortunately Disney don't seem to understand that well either

  • I've never watched the Mandalorian or any of the other Star Wars spin off's, with the exception of Angel I'm not a fan of spin offs in general, they're often a disapointement.

It's not just the Winnie the Poo thing for me, although thats a big one and a head line grabbing statement that makes people think and is a way to open conversation, but Disney just drives me crazy. Walt Disney himself was shockingly racist even by the standards of his day, a lot of Disney's output I find reinforces gender stereotypes and I'm not a fan of this follow your dreams and you'll succeed narative, that infects so many of the stories. Not everyone can do or be anything they like, whilst we need to foster ambition in children we also need to have a sense of realism too, I'm never going to be a rocket scientist, I do not have the maths skills and as my learning difficulties are in this area I'm not able to learn it either.
