Volunteering

went to a local charity shop and asked for a volunteer form - apparently they don't give a form until after a trial basis

booked in for a trial basis for one hour on Tuesday

I don't know if I'm ready yet to do voluntary work, I just wanted a form so I could see what was what and decide when the right time came

  • I know somebody who was interested in volunteering at a charity shop and the same thing happened to them.

She liked the role, so after a trial period she filled in the form and began volunteering regularly.

From what she told me, the charity shop didn’t want any hassle with handing out forms or people not turning up after filling them in. I don’t know if that is the case with your charity shop, but it isn’t particularly helpful for the potential volunteer.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one to experience this, I'm happy she liked the role Slight smile

It'd be interesting to know if every charity is like this now, or if it's just certain ones (Not naming the charity on here as I don't want to put people off who wouldn't mind a trail before getting the form)

I was thinking the same thing.

There are so many charity shops in each of the towns in my area, that I expect word spreads.

I hope you can find out enough information about the charity shop, even if they didn’t give you a form. It would be helpful perhaps, if charity shops had information sheets about the role.
