Not looking forward to extreme heat

It is just about reaching as hot as I can bear, towards the upper 20s. If we get extreme heat for a few days I get through it by thinking that it will be over soon. At the moment next week is predicted to be around 30 all week and often the prediction gets higher as it gets closer.

I like to be outside at least some of each day, but I am not sure there will be much that is bearable.

I am hoping they have got it wrong and it reduces sooner than Monday week.

  • Lucky you - it's blinking boiling here again, 30 degrees.

Our forecast shows it will get cooler next week, with light rain and temperature of 22 degrees on Wednesday, so looking forward to that.

After I had a shower, washed & dried my hair and changed the bedding this morning I was so hot I didn't know what to do with myself Disappointed relieved but now I've got two fans on as well as all the windows open and I'm sitting resting and it's more comfortable.

I never thought I would ever wish for rain in the summer in the uk, but this is an exceptional year - I believe it's broken all records.

  • I think I have had 1mm of rain in 7 weeks. Even the stinging nettles are small, except by rivers. My local river is low.

Was 34 yesterday, I think it is 32 today. Tonight will be bad as cloud is coming which will lock in the heat till the early hours, if you believe the forecast. No rain forecast for another week.

I don't think there are going to be many acorns, beech nuts or other fruits this autumn.

The blackbirds have gone as there are no slugs or worms. I think the swifts have left too, but that is normal for this time of year.
