Not looking forward to extreme heat

It is just about reaching as hot as I can bear, towards the upper 20s. If we get extreme heat for a few days I get through it by thinking that it will be over soon. At the moment next week is predicted to be around 30 all week and often the prediction gets higher as it gets closer.

I like to be outside at least some of each day, but I am not sure there will be much that is bearable.

I am hoping they have got it wrong and it reduces sooner than Monday week.

  • I will try asking co-pilot as it tends to cut through the crap results

Yes, do keep trying as it might make a huge difference to you. They can adjust frames too. Good luck.

  • I don't there is one round here, I've tried looking but just the usual ones come up and if I put in vision stress test, it comes up with sites about what it is and who might need it and the usual opticians. I will try asking co-pilot as it tends to cut through the crap results and give me places in Halifax and it was Halifax, Nova Scotia, not even Halifax in Yorkshire!

  • but they act like I'm making a fuss

You need to find a specialist optician who offes the visual stress test  [also called, 'colorimitry assessment'].  This is not offered by High Street opticians, only ones who have the specialist training - which is why you might have got that reaction.

There's a metal box hood you duck your head inside and they try different coloured lens to see which suits you.

  • I find sun glasses really difficult to wear as I get a sweaty face and they slide down my nose and I'm constantly pushing them back up, because my face is sweaty they steam up too.

I've tried talking to opticians about light sensititvity, but they act like I'm making a fuss, I asked if they could make me some really dark lenses in a pair of frames of my choice and they said no and acted like I was being totally ridiculous, to the point where I asked them why I couldn't have them seeing as I was paying for them. They also seem to discourage reactions lenses because they don't change fast enough when driving.

  • Thank you for the suggestion. I haven't heard of blue tints used for that reason. Maybe a question to ask the optician about next time I visit, as I also have an issue with my sight when it gets dim. I do wear sunglasses over my glasses whenever I go out if the sun is shining.
