Not looking forward to extreme heat

It is just about reaching as hot as I can bear, towards the upper 20s. If we get extreme heat for a few days I get through it by thinking that it will be over soon. At the moment next week is predicted to be around 30 all week and often the prediction gets higher as it gets closer.

I like to be outside at least some of each day, but I am not sure there will be much that is bearable.

I am hoping they have got it wrong and it reduces sooner than Monday week.

  • I’m I alone in not overheating? Today will peak at 32 where I am, I’m still wearing knee high socks, denim jeans and boots. It’s my same attire whether it’s summer or winter. I’m often the only person on the beach in jeans and leather boots. I only drink tea  in the daytime because I’ve set myself reminders, otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

  • Getting fed up with it. Have had 5 days of 30+, another week of it to go. It isn't cooling down at the weekend. I don't know why they say it. They've imposed a hosepipe ban now. By the end of next week I think there will have been 20 days of 30 degrees or more. And we still have August and first part of September to go.

It is just as bad as two weeks ago.

They've started harvesting the wheat. The combines were out in the fields two days ago with clouds of dust. Seems a bit early, but the stuff is all golden and ready. The grass is going brown in some places now.

All the trees are ok so far, but I expect they will start dropping leaves by the end of next week. We'll see

  • When the daytime temperatures are due to drop it is only to high 20s. Last night was one of the worst. It is interesting you say about the dust. Farming fields are about a mile or so away from here, but I can sense a dry dustiness in the air.

The forecast currently has rain towards the end of next week, but this morning they said that is not definite. Last time rain was forecasted it didn't come. We don't have a hosepipe ban, but I don't agree with neighbours who water their lawn. It went brown in 1976, but came back fine again after.

The trees are a concern when a lack of water. I have also noticed birds looking like they are overheating.

In the winter I was looking forward to some warmth and sun, but now with this heat I am wanting the summer over.
