Not looking forward to extreme heat

It is just about reaching as hot as I can bear, towards the upper 20s. If we get extreme heat for a few days I get through it by thinking that it will be over soon. At the moment next week is predicted to be around 30 all week and often the prediction gets higher as it gets closer.

I like to be outside at least some of each day, but I am not sure there will be much that is bearable.

I am hoping they have got it wrong and it reduces sooner than Monday week.

  • It's a huge worry with, I think it said 6 hospitals effected by heat, like B said a lot due to cooling systems failing.

It's been baking here, so everyone must be suffering a great deal, the lack of sleep and heat exhaustion is a bad combination.

"Scottish Borders Council deployed gritting lorries to spread sand over main roads to try and reflect heat and cool the surface.

The local authority said it had closed the B6362 Lauder to Stow road due to heat damage after temperatures of 52C were recorded."

If it's like that here, there must be so many problems like this where it's hotter.

I saw an article saying Shetland reached to giddy heights of 16 degrees, so I think you might be on to something there!

My kids were meant to be on a school trip today, but the bus turned up and there was no air con so the staff did some quick thinking and managed to change to a country park which had lots of tree shade 20 minutes away. I'm grateful they decide that a trip to Edinburgh 1hr 20 away wasn't safe!

  • Apparently gritters being used for the same purpose down here.
