Why all the garish patterns?

I'm wanting to get back into dress making and have been looking at fabrics, the range is small and all but a couple of the challis fabric that I want are in huge garish prints and totally autism unfriendly. Theres very little plain ones and those that there are in a limited range of colours, only one or two that I'd even consider wearing. I don't want to splash out £300 on a new sewing machine if I can't find the right fabric. Not even AI has been able to help, as everywhere it's sent me its all garish patterns.

I'm also a bit wary of trusting it as the website it sent me for ear loops is the unfriendliest site I've ever had the misfortune to use and now I'm having an argument with them about returns.

  • Can you give me the names of these companies Marianne? They could be on page 1m and 6, but like most others I'm not going to go through every page on a search.

I'm having gyp with the earloop people, they're insisting they only allow two returns options, niether of which I can use, so according the them I will have to pay for a return, for my own safety apparently and they understand my frustration and disapointment. I've told them they have until monday to sort it out or I will go to the CAB and national press consumer pages. They may have a good product but they're returns policy and any comunication with them is more customer diservice than anything else.
