Weekly shop

How does everyone do their weekly shop? I have Morrison's deliver mine on a Monday. If I need something like Extra Milk or Bread etc I walk to the local Co-op. I have taken advantage of Morrisons Delivery pass which saves me quite a bit on delivery charges. Clothing etc I used to go to Primark and the market but when Covid moved in I took to online shopping and ever since then I've been lazy and got stuff delivered usually next day from Amazon and Ebay. I suppose it's the convenience of having it delivered to my door that appeals to me. Having recently moved to where I am now I'm buying various nick Naks for my flat and garden space.

  • I don't buy clothes and non food items on a weekly basis, apart from things like loo rolls obviously. I go to the shops myself, usually weekly, as I cook most of our food from scratch I go to 3-4 shops everytime, so as I get the best produce at the best price. I wouldn't like someone else picking my food for me, the way they're allowed by their computers to echange items would be totally unsuitable for me. I might ask for quorn sausages, if they didn't have any, instead of giving me a different type of veggie sausage they'd give me meat ones, because the computer sees sausages not veggie ones, so I'd end up with a load of meat stuff that I couldn't eat and if I put no substitutes then I'd end with half my shopping missing.

I'm not a huge fan of online shopping, I thought we'd be able to buy anything from anywhere in the world instead we seem to be able to buy the same dozen items and woe betide you if they're not what you want. Also woe betide you if you're not a standard size, have special needs like allergies, or just don't like whatever's currently in fashion. I feel like the internet has given us less choice, not more and it's put a lot of the smaller, interesting shops out of business, even places like etsy that used to be a haven for independent jewelry makers and other crafters seems to have been taken over by the big guys. The big guys pay for their stuff to come top of any search, leaving what you actually want on page 203 or even 2m and 3 and honestly who has the patience to seach through all those web pages?

  • Up to Press I've had no problems and got what I wanted touch wood lol. Admittedly I've received items from Ebay and Temu that were smaller than they looked in the description but I'm ok with that.

  • I've had a couple of things bought on my behalf from ebay, and I'd never use temu again, they lie, outright lie, a friend bought a vintage knitted chunky Scandi style cardigan from them and it turned up as a poor quality thin fleese with a chunky knit pattern printed on it. I was bought a long chunky knit cardigan from them for xmas one year, it was supposed to be extra large and oversized. Not only did it not fit me, it didn't fit my mum either who's 3 dress sizes and 7 inches smaller than me. They seem to think this sort of thing s acceptable and just say keep it when you complain, to me this is waste and I hate waste almost as much as I hate being lied too.

  • Clothes I use Amazon. Trouble is with Amazon you never know what time of day they are gunna deliver. One day I got a delivery at 11pm. I was not best pleased at that one. When it came it was minus the 2 T-shirts that I'd ordedred. I messaged the seller cos it was marked as Delivered. 1 T-shirt arrived the next day but again I had to question the seller. They swore blind both T-shirts were delivered and showed me a photo of me accepting the parcels from the driver. I explained to them that they were not in that delivery. Eventually I got fed up and said you know what forget the whole thing and left them a bad review. Primark I think next time I want some more T-shirts. I will say one thing though about Amazon I bought a couple of pairs Jeans from them and they were great. Stretchy waist band which is what I like.
