Obsession with safety

Hi, my son's in his 20s now + developed an interest in safety over a number of yrs.  I notice it more with him if he's stressed.  His main preoccupation is avoiding a fire, so he appreciates knowing + participating in fire drills (he has his own place).  He also likes sockets without plugs to be switched off. What I've also found is that he can be under certain misapprehensions about things.  This can make him worry needlessly.  He used to worry that clothes wd catch fire on a radiator.  Once it was explained to him that hot water made radiators hot, he relaxed.  He wd not like clothes to dry on an electric radiator.  Some of his info goes way back to fireman sam vids.  Also info comes from tv, pc.  Reassurance is important, plus making sure your son has his facts right.  If he is very keen to carry out certain safety procedures then it might be a good idea to have a time(s) of day when it's done.  My son wd be reassured about something if I said the staff in a cafe, shop etc, wd switch the sockets off.  He was also reassured that they wdn't catch fire.  However, he still switches empty sockets off if he spots them!
