Colour Matching

I'm not sure whether this is an autism thing or just a me thing but I've recently realised I really struggle to know whether colours go together or not. It's starting to really restrict what I wear as I tend to stick to things like grey, dark blue and black which largely go with anything. I recently bought a purpley coat which I really love but I struggle to know what I can wear it with as I don't know what other colours it goes with. How can people just tell what goes together and why can't I? Anyone else struggle with this?

  • Hold items up to your face, so a put on a top and a coat and look in a mirror at your face, what do they do to your skin tone? DO they make you look well or ill? Remove one and see if its the combination or the individual colour.

Usually colours with the same background hue will work together, so something like a yellowy green, with a bright yellow as opposed to a mustard yellow. Or you can go for a colour on the opposite side of the colour spectrum, so purple and orange, royal blue and gold.

I used to struggle with it a lot, then I got one of those Colour Me Beautiful books and learnt about hwo to tell what colours suit me and what colours work well together.

Some people just seem to be able to put colours and clothes together, but others of us have to learn it.

I'd love to be one of those women who can interesting things with scarf's, instead I look like I've tried to hang myself with a tea towel!

Haha! That’s exactly what I look like too but I didn’t have the words to say it.
