What makes a tasty sandwich?

When out shopping, I sometimes buy a commercial sandwich, but they are mostly unsatisfying. They have little or no 'spread' to stop the bread getting soggy, rarely any pepper or salt, and the filling scrunched in the centre to make it look 'full.' How do you make a delicious sandwich at home?

Parents
  • sourdough slices, buttered.

Boiled egg (firm, not hard) chopped in a cup with a big dollop of mustard, a good pinch of salt and either maionaise or butter (butter is best if you make it when the eggs are hot).

Fill the sandwitch but not all the way to the edges and when eating press the edges together to stop the filling from squishing out.
