What makes a tasty sandwich?

When out shopping, I sometimes buy a commercial sandwich, but they are mostly unsatisfying. They have little or no 'spread' to stop the bread getting soggy, rarely any pepper or salt, and the filling scrunched in the centre to make it look 'full.' How do you make a delicious sandwich at home?

  • I rarely make sandwiches because for something handy I would prefer a salad or something else.

If pushed, it would be an egg and cress sandwich made with white or wholemeal bread.

I like the butter to be spread thinly over the entire surface of one side of each slice of bread.

The egg is boiled until the yolk is firm on the outside but slightly soft in the middle. Lots of cress, some sea salt & green pepper.
