What makes a tasty sandwich?

When out shopping, I sometimes buy a commercial sandwich, but they are mostly unsatisfying. They have little or no 'spread' to stop the bread getting soggy, rarely any pepper or salt, and the filling scrunched in the centre to make it look 'full.' How do you make a delicious sandwich at home?

  • I've recently been having sandwiches, both toasted and regular, with butter, some sort of meat (mainly chicken or ham as these tend to be regular sandwich fillings), a little bit of bbq sauce and then just dumping an entire packet of crisps on top (honestly any flavour seems to work) before covering with the second slice of bread.
