What makes a tasty sandwich?

When out shopping, I sometimes buy a commercial sandwich, but they are mostly unsatisfying. They have little or no 'spread' to stop the bread getting soggy, rarely any pepper or salt, and the filling scrunched in the centre to make it look 'full.' How do you make a delicious sandwich at home?

  • A favourite here, is Tuna Mayo and Sweetcorn, which is funny as it's something I wouldn't eat growing up. Best if the bread is a crusty baguette, the tuna and sweetcorn is really good quality, with plenty of mayo and a dash of pepper. This is a bit of a special treat. Everyone else in the house has grated cheese too, but that's too far for me, more likely a bit of cucumber or lettuce if anything extra.

A cheese toastie is also a classic, especially with a sweet chilli dip.
