How do people organise these things like pens, pencils, coloured pens, colouring pencils, rubbers, staplers
I'm a little stuck on how to organise mine as I have so many and the current way is getting a tad overwhelming for me

Great! I know how much it means to have things sorted!
YES IT'S ALL SORTED! THANK YOU EVERYONE
Started this! I already had pencil cases and a box thing to put things in (actually helpful!!)
I checked through everything and only have one type of pen/pencil/stationery on my desk now (one of each shade of pen - highlighters all fitted into a pencil case so I left them all in there)
Just need to decide where to store the 'spare' leftover stationery etc!
I've not started anything at the moment but thank you all for the replies so far!
Thank you! Bit of crafting to help organise would actually be fun!
If you are keen on recycling and like to see the crayon colours easily, you could cut a side off a cereal box and stick the open top back together. I would then cover the writing with paper or material. (I keep some old clothes to reuse the material). You could then use the side you cut off to make dividers to sort the colours.
TRAIN FILING FAIRIES!, they're a force of nature and untrainable.
Very true I don't have any pets lol.
I use empty Green and Black's cocoa tins - one for pens, one for highlighters, one for miscellaneous. And a plastic box for larger stationery.
Its great in a big furry way, except when you're doing any paper work, if you are reading something a cat see's you as staring at something and itself is a much better thing to look at than a piece of paper
that sounds like having cats is fun in it's own little way!
filing fairies
I hope they give them back okay - maybe you could train them to put the same sort of things in a place?
You obviously don't have cats Johnboy, they love nothing more than disorganising things, pens are irrisistable for knocking on the floor, rubbers need chewing, paper clip fishing is even better than fishing for fish as you don't get your paws wet. Shoe boxes full of bits of paper a human thinks are important have been deliberately put there for them to sleep making sure to get muddy little paw prints all other them.
Also, yoghurt or cottage cheese type pots might be useful.
All mu nick naks like that are in a little Desk tidy thing on my computer desk. Including post it notes and scissors and a torch. I like to be organised and a firm believer of a place for everything and everything in its place. That way then I can put my hands straight on anything I may need. Letters, bills birth cert etc are in a Foolscap box.
I sometimes chuck them in an old mug on my desk, or more usually I scrabble around madly looking under bits of paper and stuff. I don't really have enough stationary to need to organise it. Haberdashery on the other hand...as long as the cats cant get to it I'm happy, it dosen't matter how I try and store things like embroidery threads they will end up in a cats cradle, just like documents hide from me the moment I take my eyes off them and I have to ask the filing fairies for them back otherwise they will disapear forever
Never thought about DIY pots or using old shoes boxes
Thanks for all the ideas
I use a pen pot on my desk for my most frequently used pens & pencils. You can buy them or use an old tin (eg, a baked bean tin) or jam jar. These can be decorated with whatever you fancy - wallpaper, paint, ribbons, stickers etc. When I had many more pens and pencils than I do now, I used to use an old shoe box covered in wallpaper.
I have a drawer organiser for the top drawer of my desk. I have a section for pens, a ruler, elastic bands, rubber and pencil sharpener, stapler, glue stick, sellotape, string, magnifying glass and other bits. You can get these easily online. They come in different shapes and sizes to suit needs. There are other organisers and systems that can sit on top of a desk or table. Cosmetic organisers are suitable for the smaller pieces such as rubber bands, paper clips, staplers, stickers and other bits & bobs. Unless you have many elastic bands, rubbers or other small items, they could be grouped together under ‘bits & bobs. Just search Amazon/IKEA/Argos or other store for ‘Drawer Organisers’, ‘Craft Organisers’, Cosmetic Organisers’ & ‘Desk Organisers’.
