groups / activities / going places

anyone have problems going out to groups, activities or places in general?

Sometimes I get anxiety going out to places, or get worked up about going somewhere which doesn't help - as a result I either get really overwhelmed and don't enjoy myself as much or end up not going. 

I use my techniques I've got from CBT therapy and even if my parents or just one come with me I still find it hard. 

This has led to me not going to groups / activities that I actually enjoy when I can get there

I'm still recovering from resigning from work and what led to it, and trying to focus on what I like. It's like I'm finding who I am again without work. 

I would love to be able to go to groups, activities and general places on my own, at the moment it seems to much

  • I hope you went after all. It is commonplace to feel reluctant to go somewhere but then enjoy it when you decide to go. Anxiety is not always negative - it is simply a physical reaction to something new - look at it like performance nerves. Your dad was kind buying those things to encourage you, and your mum for going too. If you didn't go this time, please don't let it put you off for good!!
