Confirmation euphoria

I have been self-identifying as autistic for some considerable time now, but as of yesterday I finally had my ADOS interview. And the outcome is that they confirmed my intuitions about myself. WOOHOO!! There is something very reassuring / affirming about having a professional third party tell you that you haven't been fooling yourself (and those around you). To be honest, I was surprised by my reaction: I had assumed that because I had been comfortable with the self-identification I wouldn't have very much or a reaction at all; instead, I went for a celebratory meal culminating in chocolate eclair and fresh Scottish strawberries.
