being creative with basics [foodstuffs] - what are your favourites?

With rising food costs, I thought I would re-visit my eating habits. I eat meat, poultry or vege dishes but my favourites are basic. For example, versatile baked beans [supermarket unbranded}:

1. with cheese

2. with vinegar

3. with brown sauce [Lidl]

What are you best hacks for eating simply and cheaply? Do you mind eating the same thing for several days?

Parents
  • I make a coleslaw salad, (grated white cabbage, grated carrot, finely chopped peppers) rinse and drain it lasts for 3 days in the fridge with a pack of crosta flatbreads, ( they have no nasty additives 6 to a pack and 2 per sitting is plenty) mayo or dressing and then filling of, pan fried chicken breast with herbs and garlic, bolognaise, chilli, harissa chicken thighs pan fried and chopped up, ham, cheese, breaded chicken. Then I repeat so it covers 6 days then for the 7th day I just have anything that isn’t the above. I only eat once a day I find that easier for me.

ps. Baked beans with vinegar sounds nasty lol

Try Balsamic vinegar - more complex flavours. The salad sounds tasty - I love coleslaw but my ageing teeth find it harder to consume Grimacing.
