Misunderstandings when hyperfocussed

I've recently missed out on a refund of a flight I'd had to cancel because I'd misunderstood the instructions so didn't follow them properly. I was still in a state of shock when I cancelled it as I'd already checked in and packed and going over and over my travel arrangements for the next morning when a cardiologist phoned and told me not to travel. I was so shocked thinking about the ramifications on my holiday and my health that I failed to grasp a lot of what the reasons for them saying that and why i need new medications etc so I've had to write a letter asking. Is there a way of dealing with situations like this? I've thought afterwards that maybe I should have asked the airline and the doctor to explain everything in writing to me as I was autistic but I'm not sure if they'd have done that.

  • I'm sorry you have such a difficulty in this situation. I have never booked any flight myself, but I used to work on a support line call center in tourist industry. Every company has different rules, so it really depends on the company. You may contact their customer service and ask them if they have any refund policy in an emergency situation like this. Then you may need a written document from your doctor and you would have to email it to them if they ask fir that.

Sorry, if you've already done it with no positive outcome.
