Brain scan

Ever had a brain scan done that shows your autistic brain working differently (than other brains)?

It would be useful to have an entry on autism.org.uk but is there one? Seems there isn't yet.

I'd be curious to find out in which cases the scan is radically different, for example.

And it probably varies for each individual, but along with some regularities as well.

(I don't mean so much for diagnosis, though.)

  • I had a look about the next DSM 6 and it is speculation that it may include more science.Mine did include childhood health and I had my scans done and it may have made note of them.  Objective Biomarkers: There is an ongoing push to incorporate biological markers (such as genetic indicators or brain circuitry scans) alongside behavioral symptom checklists to inform diagnoses.

The Biomarkers and Biological Factors Subcommittee reviewed advances in genetics, brain imaging, blood-based inflammation markers, and digital data from devices like wearables, which are beginning to reveal meaningful biological patterns that cut across traditional diagnoses. The authors propose a structured, dynamic process to integrate emerging knowledge about biological factors into the DSM, ultimately providing biologically grounded diagnostic categories.
