I remember the factory well as was born in the town and lived on the same road. We used to buy the 5kg boxes too. I used to love walking to school and smelling the flour trucks unloading.
When I was at university in Loughborough in the 1980s, there was a United Biscuits factory up the road in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and they sold 5kg boxes of broken biscuits. Raw student fuel!
