How does your garden grow?

I got more bee attracting plants at the weekend and weathered the relentless rain yesterday to plant them in the sodden compost. The bees love the foxgloves, salvias, and the rowan tree. 

I cheated and bought a cheap box of 'mixed flowers to attract bees.' They are  coming along nicely - except when next door's cat decides to lie down among them {I've had to poke sticks in every few inches}.

I once tried putting prickly rose prunings across a bed of newly planted seedlings to stop my cat from digging them up and pooing in them, so instead he did this sort of catty ballet, to avoid the sticks and placed his bum precisely to avoid a thorn and poo in the gaps.

Thanks. At the moment we don't see many cats, mostly dogs nearby now, so it tends to be wild animals that like digging.

If you can get them mothballs are supposed to deter cats.

I have done that in the past to also stop squirrels or foxes digging up seedlings, but it didn't work. This year I have built a tent like structure with sticks and netting. It does mean though that I can't keep guiding my sweet peas when they stray away from the wigwam, so it appears some of them have attached to growing cosmos and cornflowers. I could have an interesting display.
