Why am I tempted to bulk buy Mars bars at 2am?

Why is it I fancy an early morning snack and am easily persuaded by bulk-buy Mars bars adverts? I know I shouldn't, because I have type 2 diabetes. But I confess I'm really looking forward to the delivery on Sunday, by my speedy Amazon delivery driver [he is very quiet and nearly as fast as Usain Bolt].

What have you been tempted to buy that you know on a practical level is not good for you or your wallet, yet fulfills a psychological need. Where would we be wthout treats? How is it possible to prevent yourself - or should you not even worry about it?

  • My late night or early morning ponderings are completely random and often unrelated to an actual physical need. One memorable one was when I woke up in the small hours and began wondering why all fire extinguishers are now red and not individual colours like they used to be.You know the thing that bothers normal people at 2 in the morning.

Joy I completely get this - I'm often waking to urges to find out obscure facts - perhaps the name of the President of Brazil or some equally unfathomable fact, in which I have no particular interest otherwise. Perhaps its better than the urges to seek out sweets of my childhood..
