Have a hard time deciphering people's interests

Everybody I talk to, it seems I can never find anyone with the same interests as me.

It might be because the stuff I'm into is very niche, but it makes me feel lonely and almost frustrated. Furthermore, when I find out what they're in to, I always seem to think it looks really dumb and superficial. It's always been this way for me. Whenever I see what's considered popular these days, it makes me roll my eyes, because it's always either super basic, super edgy or sexualised, and I've never seen the full appeal of those kinds of things

  • I'm not sure many people actually have what you could call an interest? I know lots of people are into soaps and celebrities or sport which I just don't get at all. I find it hard when "everyones" supposed to be excited by somethig like tomorows Grand National horse race, I'm not excited, I'm disgusted that this murderous piece of "entertainment" is still allowed to happen, but it's like nobodies allowed to object because it's a tradition and you're being a killjoy.

I rarely meet anyones with the same level and depth of interest as me, I guess like many autistic people when I'm interested in something I'm really interested and do a deep dive into it. I'm certainly like that with history, I consume books at a frightening rate, (or frightening to my bank balance) and get frustrated when I can't find enough to read, within budget, the books just aren't being published at a fast enough rate for me.
