This Weekend - 28 & 29 March 2026

8.30 pm Saturday 28 March (Global)

- is the 20th anniversary of Earth Hour.

If you are looking for inspiration, beyond turning electric lights off, for activities to consider which support the planet during that hour - there is a family-friendly resource pack:

I know both Girlguiding, Scouting and many other organisations often support this event - so you might already have some fun ideas from among your own household.

My plan is to wrap up warm and go for an evening walk - maybe I can hear some wildlife in my neighbourhood.  Perhaps some corvids still settling on their roost for the night?  The can sound almost as though they are gossiping at that time of day.

1 am Sunday 29 March (UK)

- a gentle reminder to put clocks forward 1 hour as we enter British Summer Time (BST).

(As much as anything ...a reminder to myself: to manually update the dashboard clock on my car over the weekend - it is the first car I have driven, for many years, which does not do so automatically - it is not broken - that is it's specification.  If I am going to forget to update any clock ...that is most likely to be the one!).
