  • Hi - welcome Smile.  Lots of info + support here so have a gd look around via the home pg + the posts if you haven't already.  There are a lot of posts from parents about the diagostic process, also about difficulties some have with family + friends.  My son didn't speak till he was 5, so there's plenty of time for your son.  You can do pictorial timetables for him (pecs) so he knows what's happening each day.  Many non verbal children benefit from them.  If you feel a bit awkward about approaching the help ctre directly you cd ring or email them perhaps + explain your situation?  I'm sure other parents must have approached them who are in your position.  There's info on the diagnostic process via the home pg.  My son's an adult now so I think you're best checking the process out that way.  A multi disciplinary team diagnosed my son over a period of months.  He was diagnosed a few months before his 3rd birthday.  He went to a council-run nursery for a few hrs each day, 5 days a wk + then attended a school for autistic children.  This is how it went for us.  Whether your neck of the woods wd or cd offer the same I don't know.  Come back here any time, ask anything you want.Smile
