Stones in my shoes

Why does it always feel theres a small alp when it's only a small piece of grit? Yes I know there's lots of nerves in the feet, but it feel out of all proportion to the problem. I don't know why, but I always seem to end up with stones in my shoes or boots, the same as I always end up with mucky splashes up the backs of my legs when I wal in the rain.

  • I know there's lots of nerves in the feet, but it feel out of all proportion to the problem

It is just because all your weight is bearing on your feet and if there is a stone beneath a foot then it will be a point of contact before anything else, magnifying the effect it has.

Solutions include stopping the stones getting in (eg tape up the top of your wellies) or having a padded insole to cushion the effect of the stone and buffer the effect it has on your foot.
