What a morning!

As many of you know I'm not a morning person, so being woken up by really loud and persistant knocking in the door wasn't good. It was my elderly neighbour, asking if a large piece of plywood in his garden was ours? It wasn't, but I helped him to move it anyway, then went back to bed. I'd just about settled down, relaxed enough to go back to sleep, when Mum starts shouting that Fearn's caught a cat in the garden, so up I get again and put my wellies on to look for an injured cat, I didn't find one, but I did find Fearn with a scratch on her ear that was bleeding profusely, I spent the next 10 or 15 mins cleaning her up and stopping the bleeding.

Now although I'm exhausted I'm to scared to go back to bed in case it brings on another emergency and it's only 11:15am

  • I would find that very annoying. I have a printed notice under my name plate, 'no visitors without appointment.' 99% of delivery men leave parcels in my doorstep plastic parcel box without knocking; it has a sign, 'no need to knock unless you need a signature.' When you have a proper sign, I think visitors take more notice than of handwritten ones.

You might something like this - or a sign I've seen elsewhere, 'night worker - please do not disturb.' Signs are not very expensive from ebay.

  • The neighbour is very elderly and can't see very well, he's also as deaf as a post, so he wouldn't see or read any notices or if he did see them he might not be able to read them, he's a native Welsh speaker and I'm not sure how much English he can read, also I'd need to make a sign bi-lingual. Many people round here seem to be up at the crack of sparrow fart and go to bed early, I know they don't understand why I'm up so late.

I had a good look around the garden and theres no blood or cat fur, Fearn definately seems to have come off second best, she's got a big scratch on her ear that took ages to stop bleeding and it bled loads as ears tend to do, she also has a couple of scratches under her arm pit. She seems to have forgotten the irst lesson she learn't about cats, they're sharp! She was probably either trying to play with it, or chase it off to protect our cats, if she see's cats on the telly, she will bark at them and run between the telly and our cats to make sure they're alright, unless its kittens in which case she tries to lick them and makes the screen all garmsy.
